A little backstory about the man behind Pruett woodworking.
Joe had been in the automotive industry for 30 years before he started woodworking. He started by fixing and diagnosing problems then progressed into drag racing and carb tuning. He now does presale inspections on vehicles being sold at auction or to private individuals. Vehicles like Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari. With a few totally custom vehicles now and then. He still does diagnostics when people need help on the side.
After his father passed away Joe inherited his tools but did not know how to use them properly. So the tools just sat rusting and falling apart for many years. Then one day Joe had the idea to put them to work and build a rustic cedar cooler box. His life changed at that point. People absolutely loved them! He made almost 200 coolers in different styles using the proceeds to expand his tool arsenal.
He progressed from the rustic outdoor furniture to interior designs by building a queen size bed in Hickory and and nightstand to match it. He then built many tables and cabinets for family and friends. Along the way he was given an Ibanez guitar kit and started building those as a way to practice shaping and finishing. The one he is most proud of is “Angel” the pearl white Stratocaster that was a special build.
While taking a well needed vacation to the Honduras he meet the most amazing family and his most trusted and closest friend. They took him all around the area and showed him the true beauty that their country holds. He was allowed to take closeup pictures of some of the rare and beautiful furniture in the museum and a new love was born. A love for period furniture and the classic beauty that each piece contains. So when he came home he built the “Princess” table. A project that took months to complete because he had never attempted or dared to try a build like it. It was all built from a picture he had in his mind and with trial and error. His love for that style of furniture has become his passion.
